Keep Your Employees Safe and Healthy with a Human Performance Evaluation
As an employer, workplace safety is at the top of your mind. A human performance evaluation (HPE) is one way to take a proactive approach to ensure a safe workplace. By having Alta Vista Wellness Center’s certified physical therapists assess your potential hires for physical readiness, you can be assured you’re hiring the right person for the job.
HPEs are a simple and effective way to ensure a good fit between a new employee and your company–and we offer them throughout the Laredo, TX area! Call us today to learn more.
Why Utilize Human Performance Evaluations?
The job interview process can help you learn more about a potential new hire’s experience, credentials, and personality. But if you’re hiring for a physically demanding job, how do you know they have the physical skills necessary to get the work done?
A human personality evaluation does precisely that. These customized assessments compare a potential hire’s physical abilities to a job’s physical requirements. By hiring physically capable employees, you can improve workplace safety and productivity.
What Do We Include in a Human Performance Evaluation?
We work closely with employers to tailor each HPE to test for the specific physical skills needed for a particular job. This not only provides you with the information you need to make a hiring decision, but it also ensures ADA compliance.
Here’s what we include in an HPE:
Medical History
- We’ll review your potential hire’s medical history to identify any potential impairments.
Occupational History
- We’ll also discuss your potential hire’s work history–just from a medical perspective. We can assess the physical demands of previous jobs, review their experience with workplace safety procedures, and screen for any exposure to toxic substances.
Medical-Based Examination
- We can perform a basic medical-based exam that measures heart rate, blood pressure, and other important information.
Physical Examination
- Finally, we’ll ask your potential hire to perform the various movements required for the job. Potential movements might include the following:
- Sitting or standing for prolonged periods
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy objects
- Kneeling or crawling
- Balancing
- Grasping and object manipulation
- Sitting or standing for prolonged periods
Once the hire completes their HPE, we’ll create a detailed report you can use to make final hiring decisions.
